This is the signup post for the [community profile] sunshine_revival blogging challenge in 2025. It's a new version of the now defunct [community profile] sunshine_challenge.

The parameters are simple: Prompts will appear on [community profile] sunshine_revival  in July, and you make stuff inspired by them. Most people choose writing, but it doesn't have to be. Post something like "I signed up for the Sunshine Revival challenge at [community profile] goals_on_dw" in your blog, then put a "Sunshine Revival" tag in your blog to make it easier for other people to find your entries. Adding "Sunshine Revival" to your Interests will also help identify you as a participant or reader. (It is best to use exactly the phrase "Sunshine Revival" because DW search tools don't recognize variations as the same topic, and to attach the tag to a post so it sticks.) Another good idea is setting up a masterlist where you can link your posts as you make them, which may or may not be part of your announcement post. Then make a comment below this post with details about your goal. You don't have to sign up to participate, it just helps spread the word and attract more readers.

Primary posting will run July 1 -- July 31, 2025.

Not everyone likes to set resolutions in January. It's a busy time with year-beginning activities. All the gyms and classes are crammed with people who do like January resolutions. Plus most folks are exhausted after the holiday season.

Therefore, some folks prefer to set their resolutions for the next year in February. It's quieter. The gyms and classes are down to regular attendees. People have had time to recover from the holidays. Also, it's a short month, which makes it good for one-month goals and testing out new hobbies or habits to see if they work for you.

If you want to share your February resolutions, you can leave a comment below with your goal or a link to a goal list if it's longer. You can also update in the monthly check in posts.

The concept at the core of 1000 Hours Outside is simple -- the amount of time kids spend outside ‘actually matters’. Though you may not hear this very often, a childhood flooded with nature time benefits kids (and adults) in untold ways.

The spirit behind this journey is one of encouragement and excitement - not burden. For many, being intentional about scheduling in nature time is the one and only thing needed to transform childhood

Now is the time folks are making their New Year's resolutions or other goals for 2025. People vary in how they like to pursue their goals and what helps them keep on track. Some want others to provide accountability. Others just want moral support and the company of friends doing similar things. Some like having a place to track their progress online, share it with friends, and watch what others are doing. This post provides a place where you can seek any of these. It's okay if you need a certain amount of pressure for success.

Don't want accountability at all, just opportunities? That's okay too; you can just skip this post and look for other resources that suit your needs, like the one about alternatives.

Read on for some ideas...

Community Thursday was started in 2022 by [personal profile] goodbyebird.

On Thursdays I'll make an effort to engage with communities on dw in one way or another, be it by commenting, posting, reccing, and so on. Heck, even creating a community, or doing mod work for said community. I'll then talk about what I got up to in my journal, using the Community Thursdays tag.

This will not only bring light to new communities for folks, but also bring some much needed life back into them
.

The goal is for bloggers to support communities and thereby keep them active. Be aware that Dreamwidth has a vast sink of dormant or dead communities, so it's vitally important to preserve the ones we love. There are various approaches to doing this challenge. See below for some ideas...

There are all kinds of reading challenges and goals that people like to do. Some are individual, others are group events. Some are all year, others shorter. Some have speculative fiction themes, others are ordinary. They span a great many different formats including but not limited to fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and fanfic. Here are some for your inspiration. On Dreamwidth, see communities for books.

You can pick whichever challenge(s) you want to set as a goal in 2025 and reply with a comment. Below the list of challenges is a short form for listing which you have chosen. Make a post in your blog like "I signed up for the Reading challenge in [community profile] goals_on_dw" -- or list the specific challenge if you're doing an official one somewhere else instead of a personal one here. Then make a tag for it like "Reading Challenge" and put that on the post; it should stick that way. Check your Interests page to see if you have Reading, Fiction, Meta, Science Fiction, Fanfic, etc. listed there, which helps people find you. You don't have to sign up to participate, it just helps spread the word and attract more readers.

For printables to track your progress, see Books & Reading in Thematic Trackers or Challenges by Numbers.

See also the Fannish 50 challenge, which simply aims to post fifty entries on any topic in fandom. If you want to review every book you read all year, or compile a list of favorite fanfics you've found, go for it. You can even double-count anything that applies to two or more goals, e.g. [community profile] 50books_poc and Fannish 50.

Do you know of any other reading challenges in 2025? Share a link so they can be added to the list of options.

This is the signup post for the Fannish 50 blogging challenge in 2025.

Fannish 50 began in 2023 with a challenge by [personal profile] colls in [community profile] swannee. Since then, it has spread to other blogs and communities.

The parameters are simple: Make fifty posts about topics related to fandom. You may set any theme(s) you wish, or pick random topics for each post. "Questions and Questionnaires for Three Weeks for Dreamwidth" includes a list of questionnaires on fannish topics if you want to use one of those as a framework. Post something like "I signed up for the Fannish 50 challenge at [community profile] goals_on_dw " in your blog, then put a "Fannish 50" tag in your blog to make it easier for other people to find your entries. Adding "Fannish 50" to your Interests will also help identify you as a participant or reader. (It is best to use exactly the phrase "Fannish 50" because DW search tools don't recognize variations as the same topic, and to attach the tag to a post so it sticks.) Then make a comment below this post with details about your goal. You don't have to sign up to participate, it just helps spread the word and attract more readers.

Primary posting will run January 1 -- December 31, 2025. With 50 posts, it fits neatly into a year with 2 weeks to spare. However, you don't have to do it that way if you don't want to, and there's no hard limit on posting timeframe. You could make them daily posts, or monthly posts, or sporadic posts, whatever works for you and eventually adds up to 50.
